So, for the past ten months we have had the pleasure of planning an awesome wedding with a pretty awesome couple. I remember meeting with Cortney and TJ at the Starbucks in Broad Ripple- she was so nervous she started clapping! This was serious business to her and we couldn't have asked for a nicer couple to work with.

Now, let's talk about HOW nice these people are. I mean REALLY NICE people. They're nice, they're parents are nice, they're friends are...yep you guessed it NICE. Everyone was just so darn NICE. This was a beautiful wedding day and we are so greateful to have been a part of it all. Here are just a few pictures from our own personal cam, but stayed tuned for some pictures from THE amazing Erin Hession. Oh yeah- she was super NICE too!

Day of Coordinator
Many brides confuse the role of wedding planner and day of coordinator. Each are necessary to pull off a smooth and flawless wedding it just depends on how much help is needed to plan your big day. In this day and age, many brides are doing much of the work themselves to cut cost and to place their own personal seal on their wedding for guests to see and enjoy. If you don't have anything- a Day of Coordinator is a MUST.

Day of Coordinators typically meet with the bride and groom a month before the wedding day, visit the venue location and ensure everything is on track with vendors and the bridal party. They pick and ask questions to ensure the bride and groom are happy with the decisions made and that everything for the ceremony and reception runs on course as planned. On the "day of" they arrive well before guests arrive to ensure decorations are prepared and in place, each vendor arrives on time and does their part and that the bridal party is in their places once the ceremony is ready to begin. They guide and cue the reception activities for an efficient, yet enjoyable time for all. At the end of it all, your Day of Coordinator is there to ensure the bride and groom are off safely, decorations and gifts are packed and safe and that the venue is back in satisfactory order. Many times they are the last to leave.

The tough part for brides is letting go and allowing the Day of Coordinator to do what they were hired to do- which is to allow them to enjoy their wedding day. Up to this point the bride and quite possibly, family and friends have prepared everything from seating arrangements to florals-and the Coordinator ends up receiving input from MANY different people. This can be very frustrating and confusing for the Day of Coordinator and places the bride and groom in an awkward position. It's imperative that they share with everyone exactly what the Day of Coordinator is there for- to ensure a flawless wedding that is enjoyable for all!

Having your wedding in September? There are many ways to add touches of the season and create a beautiful indoor or outdoor wedding.

Use the rich colors of fall: golds, bronze, and oranges to name a few. Then use deep purples and greens as accents.

DIY Favor Baskets

Favors for your guests are always extra special when they are handmade {by you of course!} with love! My cousin and his wife had a beautiful family-style Fall wedding in 2009. Each wood basket was customized to a family or single person and included fall themed items like yummy carmel apples and candies, and homeade banana bread and apple butter.

Our families were so excited to grab the baskets and peek inside at all their goodies to eat in their hotel rooms that night and over the weekend.

Summer is here and great ideas to add to welcome and favor baskets are bottles of water with a customized label and personalized fans. Include your names and wedding date or a summery design with rubber stamp sets or add a sweet or funny picture of you and the groom on the water bottles.

Here some uniquely cool wedding trends that I found as I was persuing the web today. Have any more? Share with us on Facebook!

Mix the table shapes at your reception...

This picture of a beautiful summer outdoor reception allows for guests to be seated at longer banquet table and rounds. Interchanging the banquets and rounds throughout the reception makes for an elegant, less coordinated look. This ideas is great for garden receptions for a more rustic feel. A variety of chairs could also be used to pull it all together.

Purple & Siver Candy Buffet by Jameson Creations

We've shared it before but Candy buffets and bars are still a growing trend at weddings! Brides have expanded in to other unique ideas for their bars and buffets such as desserts bars featuring cupcakes and cakes, brownies and cookies. Doughnuts were a recent request from one of our brides as well as popcorn and hot chocolate bars...great to warm guests up at a winter wedding!

Our September 2010 couple!
Shovanna & Jason Burcham
Another really great trend is brides and groom walking down different aisles and meeting at the front of all their guests. People have really seemed to appreciate the out of the ordinary of the groom standing in one aisle as his bride comes up another. It's so romantic as the bride is given away and then walks across the front to meet her husband to be! Ain't Love Grand!

Meet us here for more great trends this wedding season!

Salt Ceremony

I love weddings and I am always excited to see what the couple can and will do to create a special or unique moment on their wedding day. I've witnessed many unique and special unity or memorial ceremonies and I never tire of seeing new ones. The Salt Ceremony was done at the wedding of Ray & Ann this past weekend and was so special and beautiful as the officiant shared its significance

When you perform the Salt Covenant, you are combining your individual grains of salt, symbolizing your united life. Your commitment to one another and to God cannot be broken unlesss you can separate your salt from your husband or wife-to-be (Salt Ceremonies, 2011)

The salt ceremony can be performed several ways. The bride and groom can have separate vials of salt and pour them into a "unity" container or as Ann & Ray did by taking a pinch of salt out of a beautiful container and placing several grains on each others tongues.
What type of memorable ceremony will you do for your wedding?
Share it with us on Facebook!

Here are more pictures from our blissful wedding weekend. Anne and Ray. What can I say? Their wedding left us feeling...seriously- we were speechless. It was such a special day and its so hard to put in to words how it made you feel. It was simply amazing. Everything about that wedding shouted LOVE and you definitely felt the love all through that place! Thank you Anne and Ray for reminding us of what it is to love and be loved.

Ceremony site before the florals and decorations
Anne had a tropical vision and she ran it! We transformed the room into a tropical paradise. Thanks so much to the Columns staff for all their help.

Beautiful Birds of Paradise florals and sharp greenery by Royal Creations adorned the place in bright colors. Black satin chair covers and cream organza sashes added just the right amount of elegance to the ceremony and reception areas. You knew you were in paradise standing beside one of the huge 6 and 14 ft palm trees (yep-real ones!) that lined the staircase, aisle for the ceremony and the buffet table.

Hats off to Anne and Ray Littlefield and their gorgeous "all about love" wedding. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful ending to our busy wedding weekend.

These unique Anthuriums were highlighted in many of their floral arrangements. Julie with Royal Creations say's they also come in a bright RED and a lovely HOT GREEN.
